Hi groups, I have a somewhat urgent necessity to learn about Apache, due to a project I'm working on. Have reasonably good UNIX system administration skills in many areas but not worked on Apache at all (yes, that is possible - done somework on web servers, but using Netscape Web server. Sorry if this question is inappropriate. I will be reading the group guidelines/FAQ if there is one, but thought to ask here as well: 1. Which is the "most suitable"/largest (in terms of more members of the group) on Usenet/Google Groups, for Apache (on Linux)? of these two that I've posted to, i.e. comp.infosystems.www.servers.unix, and alt.apache.configuration (found from a quick Google Groups search for "Google group for Apache". Reason for asking: I'm going to be posting some questions (and hopefully, over time, will post answers as well), about Apache installation, configuration and administration on Linux. Could be any combination of v1.3, 2.0.x or 2.2.x. Also, will probably need to maintain two instances/installations of Apache - one for general Web serving (including Subversion access) and one only for Ruby on Rails. (Whew! nice way to start learning about Apache ![]() So thought of posting on a group with more readers/posters, so as to increase chances of getting ful replies (though, I know, there's not necessarily a direct correlation between # of group users and quality of answers ![]() Thanks Vasudev http://www.dancingbison.com |

Not actually what you've asked for, but I think the mailing-list "users@httpd.apache.org" is the most active resource and there are several developers/doc-contributors participating. Preview with GMANE here: http://dir.gmane.org/gmane.comp.apache.user [...] ..max |
