I guess you are asking if you can run two (or more) different types of sql
server at the same time on one machine, yes you can, just see to that they
don't use the same port.

Uh, that is like asking if ice cream and Good Humor bars can be on the
same truck.

MySQL = a particular type of database (Others: Oracle, SQLServer, etc.)

SQL = a language (*S*tructured *Q*uery *L*anguage).

MySQL, as well as all the other relational databases, uses SQL as its
language.

Well... Micro$oft calls their version of SQL "SQL". We all call it
MSSQL, but they do refer to it as SQL. Ask an SQL DBA.

Microsoft calls its product SQL *Server*.

Right, DBAs may call it "SQL". Accountants ask for the "Adobe" when they
want to read PDF files. Designers ask for the "Adobe" when they want to
do photo retouching. And, at least in Spain, users call "screen" to all
GUI elements. But that doesn't mean that user names make any sense.

Large corps tend to be very careful with their brands and users normally
couldn't care less.

Thanks Gary. As a matter of coincidence, I just today needed to create
a database for a client. For some strange reason, they did not have an
admin panel so that I could do it. Rather, the hosting company had to
create it for me. Here is the question they asked:

"We have two types of SQL database, MS SQL and mySQL - please check with
your designers to find out which type you require, as this is important."
