Hi all,
I am trying to restore my Bugzilla DB through the MySQL Administrator V1.2.4 rc. This seems extremely straightforward in terms of what needs to be done in the tool (open backup file and click on 'Start Restore'), however I am getting the following error: MySQL ERror Nr.2006-MySQL server has gone away FYI, this is running on a Windows 2003 Advanced Server. Also, I have seen some mention about issues relating to 'InnoDB', so I'll say here that the MySQL 'Backup Execution Method' is the 'InnoDB Online Backup'. Any and all will be appreciated. Best regards, David |

With no response on the MySQL forum, this issue was also cross posted
on mozilla.support.bugzilla. On the Mozilla newsgroup Unca solved my problem by directing me to the bottom comments at: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=14236 Future reference and other newbies like myself here is the solution: Adding the following to the C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\My.ini file immediately below the [mysqld] section: max_allowed_packet=16M Not only did this solve the problem of allowing me to restore my backup, but the Bugzilla attachments that were lost due to the failed restore attempts are now there. All looks good! As recommended by Steve's posting, I also upgraded to MySQL Administrator V1.2.12. http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html I did that as well after I solved the problem (didn't want to introduce more risk).
