I've recently installed this GUI tool for MySQL; however, when I run it, it
needs information to connect to the server which is local (on my laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium where the MySQL client is located also). It asks for 'stored connection,' 'server host,' 'Username,' 'Password,' and 'Default Schema.' Nothing I try for these boxes works. I do not use a password and I do not get prompted to provide a username when opening the client directly. If anyone could provide some advice on how to connect when the server is local I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks. Brad |

Thanks Paul but unfortunately that doesn't work either. I'm really stymied.

Yes - mysql is running but I still can't connect using the suggestions
provided and everything else I've tried. (I connect with no problem when using the command line client). Still baffled but do appreciate the input. What is the error message you get, exactly? -- It is odd, but on the infrequent occasions when I have been called upon in a formal place to play the bongo drums, the introducer never seems to find it necessary to mention that I also do theoretical physics. --Feynman |

Well I finally got it to work; I think what finally made the difference was
checking the "use named pipe" box and entering 'mysql.' The other entries were localhost and root. Thanks again for all your . Now I have to learn how to use this 'Query Browser.'
