Par défaut de-activated by using image over network??

Usually if I need to work on a picture I have a copy of it on my comp
the other day I was ing hubby with some Targa format files

instead of copying the image I opened it from his comp over the network
BIG MISTAKE

I got the activation screen b/c PS thinks I changed my computer
configuration!!!
this stupidity in trying to prevent piracy is only annoying and DUH has not
stopped any cracked versions from getting out there

Has this happened to any of you??

If it hasn't just a warning ...................
so it doesn't happen to you

3 machine network, PS only on the 'Graphics' (fastest), but open and work on
an image anywhere in the system or in external storage units.

well I got it fixed and now installed CS3
but of course it won't do the updates properly
it put some and denied and stalled on some others

I am excited about the newer selection palettes and tools
that looks great
may not use bridge anyway

now I have to figure out what smart objects are for
I thought it was some way to use filters non destructively
have not had time to really look at it much yet

I think you will. Much better and quicker solution for doing edits.

There are heaps of stuff you will find better once you discover all the
bits (if you ever do find them, I haven't as yet!)

Smart objects are the bees knees but I think you mean smart filters -
they are new with CS3. They were almost enough to make me upgrade but
I'm still putting it off. I could not work without smart objects.

Have fun,
Ron

I found the new features in ACR 4.2 (I think .2 but after initial release
version) to be of the most benefit - anyway those that think CS3 is not
justified in upgrading to are very wrong!

... you forgot, "IMHO"

To decry that because -=you=- might need more (or just playing 'keep up with
the joneses') doesn't mean that those whose aims are satisfied, are "Wrong"
for not spending on upgrades.

In this, although it might be your opinion that some are 'missing' new
features, the only one 'wrong' is thee.

yeah I knew you were a big fan of smart objects
I heard you speak of them a lot

what ways do you find them useful??
and yes I think I mean smart filters

does this mean the sharpening or such is on it's own layer like an
adjustment layer?
