I need to make a wall of plaques into one wide photo. In the past
I've done this sort of thing manually using layers and transform
tools, but this one is more trouble and I was trying to do it
automatically. I stumbled onto the Align-Layers feature and thought
it was my answer, but it tapers the shots on the ends.

This composite of 6 images was made using Align-Layers. Each shot was
made standing directly in front of the plaque and, had the same
appearance of every other shot.

It did a remarkably good job of doing what it did, but I wanted a
result where the wall and plaques were the same height from right to
left as they were in the original images.

Is there a way to do what I need in Photoshop?

Interesting. I didn't know that was there. It is the same set of
functions as in Edit > Auto-Align Layers, with one addition.

There's a fifth option called Interactive Layout. It's the
perspective I want but it doesn't knit the images together. It
resizes them and sort-of lines them up. Here's the result that one
gives. Still unacceptable, but for a different reason.

Yes, but the Reposition Only seem completely useless. It makes no
attempt to knit the images together. It does put them in the correct
order, but it just stacks them side by side -- overlapping them in a
seemingly random manner.

I don't have it, but so I see on this site:

I don't know how he got that flat/horizontal result. I'm doing
exactly what he did to get the result in my original post.

You might want to check out PTgui, a third-party panorama generator that uses the PanoTools platform. <http://www.ptgui.com> .

You know the answer to that _jim — RTFM!

Or at least explore the interface when you get a new program.
