I have asked this question a couple of differnt ways & I haven't asked it the
correct way yet, I guess, so here I go again. Here's what I want my gallery to do: when a visitor clicks on a thumbnail I would like the image to pop up on the same page. My thumbnails & images are linked but the image comes up on its own page. I would rather have it work similar to a rollover. I tried the rollover but could not get the thumbnail to enlarge. How do I make it work so the visitor never leaves the gallery? My website www.claymakins.com is my first & at 60 maybe my only, but I do love the challenge. I hope the problem makes more sense now, Thanks...Barb |

Do you want the enlarged image to appear when the user moves their mouse "over"
the thumbnail, or when they actually "click" the thumbnail? You could try Lightbox, it's an application I use quite often for galleries. http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/ |

Technically, a "pop up" doesn't so much "pop up on a page", it creates a new browser window separate from the page you just clicked on. I think what's happening is you're using some terminology that *you* know what you mean by it, but is defined by the industry as something else (and that has happened to most of us at one time or another). So what would work best is for you to give us a link to some site that already does what you want so people can give you the answer you're looking for. > My thumbnails & images are linked but the image comes up on its > own page. That's what "pop ups" do, but on your site it's not so much "coming up on its own page" as you're just linking to the larger image and that will just show the image in the same browser window, just like if you were linking to another page on a site, but since that image is not within an actual page, you just get the image and a lot of blank space. > I would rather have it work similar to a rollover. I'm coming into this thread late, so this may have already been discussed, but have you looked at any Gallery solutions? perhaps this: http://www.projectseven.com/products.../ssm/index.htm or this: http://www.projectseven.com/products...agic/index.htm ? BTW, you'll want to remove all the spaces in the file names of your pages. |

I've also used Lightbox and it works great.
I don't work or own stock in the company but I also like Projectseven's "Image Gallery Magic" extension . It's not free but it is wicked simple to use. Check it out: http://www.projectseven.com/index.htm Randy "JoeyD1978" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:ftlmua$i59$1@forums.macromedia.com... > Do you want the enlarged image to appear when the user moves their mouse > "over" > the thumbnail, or when they actually "click" the thumbnail? > > You could try Lightbox, it's an application I use quite often for > galleries. > > http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/ > > > |

I love IGM, and while I don't work for them or own stock I do use their

> I've also used Lightbox and it works great. How? I'm looking at the 'examples' here http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/ and none of the images work in any way! Is it something that works only on IE? or am I missing something? I'm using Firefox 2 which should be supported by anything released on 5/21/07 (as posted on the website) |

The site is hosed.
Try http://americanwatercolorsociety.org....php?year=2008 - click on an award winner's name.... That's DIVAPopGold. Try http://www.paragonlandscapingcorp.com/p_portfolio.php - click on a thumbnail. That's Lightbox. Note that you can cycle through the images by hovering over the image and using the NEXT/PREV tabs that appear. Try http://wildimages.biz/wi_gallery-wil...llery=Wildlife - click on any of the thumbnails. That's ImageGalleryMagic. It's awesome. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "polarl light" <someone@fast4.net> wrote in message news:ftnbhl$eqn$1@forums.macromedia.com... > >> I've also used Lightbox and it works great. > > How? Very impressive, shame they can't get it to work on their own site :-( Still Lightbox appears to be free so may be worth giving it a try... > Try http://wildimages.biz/wi_gallery-wil...llery=Wildlife - click > on any of the thumbnails.
