I am totally new to this program and I was making changes to a previous website
we are trying to update. I make the changes on my C drive and save them but I
don't know how to get those same changes to go to our online website?

You need the ftp details for your website - username, password, root
directory etc.

Once you have these, press F1 in Dreamweaver and read up on creating a site.

i suggest you click on in the menu and select "Getting Started with
Dreamweaver." that will tell you all about how to set up your site in
Dreamweaver and upload to your website.

you will need the ftp information for your site, meaning where it's
located, which directory you need to upload to, and the username and
password needed to access it. if you don't have this info already, you
can try to get it from whoever worked on it before, or your host.
