Perhaps arguing over nothing here. We all adjust our rates and prices depending on market factors, as does every other industry in the world. Let's say it takes me 30 hours from beginning to end for a brochure style website, and I charge $100 /hr for my time. If my phone keeps ringing off the hook with demand for brochure style websites, I would increase my rate to $125 /hr. I would continue this trend until I found a comfortable middle ground. If you guys are charging strictly by how much money the client has and/or is willing to spend on a project, I fail to see how that makes a good "business strategy".[/q] never said anything about cost relating to how much a client is willing to spend (although that does sometime play into my pricing- usually when it's a project i want to do but their budget is limited). my whole point is that the value of what the client is getting should play into the price. an hour spent fixing a leaky roof before a thunderstorm is worth more than an hour spent hanging wallpaper. |
