Par défaut scroll bars

Hi

I have a quandrie. new to webdesign, still learning the basics. heres what I
want to do, I have a page, nice image in background, which is a specific size,
I dont want the page to scroll past the edge of the image and I dont want the
image to tile either, but I have too much text to show in the space. Ideally I
want to have the text in a separate layer, with the image in the initial page
background, so the text is seen over the image,

but what do I have to do to make the text scrollable without moving the whole
page and hense the image, at the moment it just presents in a long block which
scrolls well past the bottom edge of the image.

can I put a scroll bar on the side of a table cell for example? or is there
another way to fix a space size and add a scroll bar?. I cant find how to do
this in any of my books or s sections.

any welcome.

thanks

Please stop wanting that, since it's a rather bad idea. Such scrolling
boxes cause severe usability problems, they might even lead to multiple
scrollbars in the browser. Please don't do that and rethink your design
instead. There's nothing wrong with a longer scrolling text. That's how
billions of websites work, simply because it _does_ work and is usable.
