Par défaut W2K3: Time is off

Hi,

recently I did a fresh install of my W2K3 R2. Shortly after that I
noticed that its clock is always 12 minutes fast. This does not vary,
it's always 12 minutes.

The server is set up to synchronize with ptbtime1.ptb.de, but if my
observation is right synchronization only takes place once a week.

From my early computer days I remember this might be a symptom of a
dying mainbord battery, although in this case I would expect varying
time offsets, not constant ones. Anyway, at the next opportunity I
will replace the battery.

In the meantime, I'd like to know:

1. Are there other reasons possibly causing this?

2. How can I change the synchronization interval, from once a week to
maybe once a day, or every 12 hours?

Thanks!

Hello wsirges@nospam.gmx.de,

Check out this:

Selecting the poll interval. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpClient\SpecialPollInte rval

b. In the right pane, right-click SpecialPollInterval, and then click Modify.

c. In Edit DWORD Value, type TimeInSeconds in the Value data box, and then
click OK.

Note TimeInSeconds is a placeholder for the number of seconds that you want
between each poll. A recommended value is 900 Decimal. This value configures
the Time Server to poll every 15 minutes.

Best regards
