I have a PC running XP Home, with SP2. There is an incompatibility between
Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 and Internet Explorer 7. If IE7 is on the machine, you can no longer add titles to a DVD menu you are creating in Roxio (VideoWave). The only solution is to remove IE7. I am wondering if I could use Virtual PC to get around this; have my physical PC with IE7, but set up a Virtual PC without IE7, and only run Roxio on that Virtual PC. I'm wondering whether this would strain my processing resources (I have 2 Gb RAM) to have a virtual PC running while processing video rendering, etc. Also, would I have to purchase an additional XP license to install it on the Virtual PC or would Microsoft allow me to use the same license to run XP on the physical machine and the virtual machine in order to get around this incompatibility between Roxio and IE7? |

A better ng for VPC is microsoft.public.virtualpc.
A virtual machine uses 2d graphics with 8mb of video ram. It also uses a emulated optical drive that is read only. You cannot use the host machine's hardware to get around these limitations. A vm is highly unsuitable for EMC. Yes you would need a separate license for the vm. It would be far cheaper for you to upgrade EMC. SVS (free for personal use) might be your ticket as it will give you the
possibility of switching easily between IE6 and IE7 on your system: http://juice.altiris.com/node/86 I never used it personally with IE7 so I cannot confirm if this will work for your but you risk nothing in trying it. -- Sylvain Lafontaine, ing.
