We have two servers, one is windows 2000 server and the other is windows 2003 (xp) server. There are computers located in two different work area rooms. One possibility is to have two domains, one for each work-area. Then, this would presumably just mean running dcpromo to set up active directory, for both server computers. I'd assume these would both be 'domain controller for a new domain' (not using the "additional controller" option) and, both would be "domain in a new forest", but would be differentiated because they'd have different dns (and netbios) names. Then there'd be two dns servers (for the two server computers each having their own domain). All the computers in both rooms are connected to the same hub and to a single router. Each domain would thus have its own separate file and log (since they're on separate computer servers). Does this sound correct (having two domains as such as domains in new forests etc)? Also then the computers themselves would have to list both the servers IPs in their dns alternatives as well as the external dns address?
