Hello,

Looking to solve the ever popular problem of supporting outlook/outlook
epxress's special folders on imap i am using altnamespace. However, I
noticed that when doing this, outlook express creates the folders
Drafts and Sent Items as top level shared folders. Heres what i do

cm user.test

Then I login for the first time using the user test. I now see when I
listmailbox in cyrus

Drafts (\HasNoChildren)
Sent Items (\HasNoChildren)
user.test (\HasChildren)

These folders then show up as shared folders to other people. Shouldn't
the folders be created as

user.test1.Drafts
user.test1.Sent Items

?

If I login with the same user under Outlook, which only tries to create
one folder by default the Junk E-mail folder it does it correctly. I
now see

user.test.Junk E-mail (\HasNoChildren)

Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?

A side note, I found that this only happens if I have set the user as
an admin in imapd.conf
Is there any solution besides just making the users not admins?

HI.

First - regular users must not have admin permissions in Cyrus,
and therefor should not be able to create those top level shared folders,
regardless of their client software.

Anyway - I didn't succeed either to use shared folders in Outlook Express,
however Thunderbird can use them.
So one option you have is to install Thunderbird on those computers and try it.
This is one advantage of an IMAP mail server -
it is quite easy to switch between different client software (including web access).
