Hi folks,
Thanks in advance to anyone who can be of assistance... My potentially dumb question involves a new problem that popped up a week or so ago. I noticed that none of my mail was making it to my inbox, even though it looks like my fetchmail daemon is grabbing it fine. It just isn't making it to my cyrus mailbox now. - The /var/log/maillog shows the following error - which appears to be the culprit, but I could be wrong. This log is for one mail I sent to my rr.com email address from yahoo.com, which was grabbed from RR using fetchmail. The whole log is at the bottom of my post: Apr 10 13:32:09 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/lmtp[30756]: EE9EC20185C1: to=<cyrusu...@localhost.columbus.res.rr.com>, orig_to=<cyrususer@localhost>, relay=none, delay=1, status=deferred (connect to /var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp[/var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp]: Permission denied) - Other potentially damning issues might be that I used to have clamav* installed? I removed it to see if that was causing the issue, thus generating: Apr 10 13:31:31 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/qmgr[30649]: warning: connect to transport smtp-amavis: No such file or directory - Lastly, there is a reject notice: Apr 10 13:32:08 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/smtpd[30749]: connect from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1] Apr 10 13:32:08 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/smtpd[30749]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1]: 550 <rruser@localhost>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table; from=<yahoou...@yahoo.com> to=<rruser@localhost> proto=ESMTP helo=<localhost> I'm wondering if I had something configured correctly at first, but might have been lost after my system was bounced by a power outage? (e.g., hostname??) In short, it's the same config that was working perfectly a month ago: Fedora Core 4 (experienced the same problem on Fedora Core 5) postfix-2.2.2-2 cyrus-imapd-2.2.12-6.fc4 fetchmail-6.2.5.5-1.fc4 cyrus-sasl-plain-2.1.20-5 cyrus-sasl-md5-2.1.20-5 cyrus-sasl-2.1.20-5 perl-Authen-SASL-2.09-3.fc4 Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions y'all might have. Here's the detailed maillog if it's of use: Apr 10 13:30:33 cpe-1-2-3-4 master[30734]: about to exec /usr/lib/cyrus-imapd/imapd Apr 10 13:30:33 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30734]: executed Apr 10 13:30:33 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30732]: executed Apr 10 13:30:33 cpe-1-2-3-4 master[30735]: about to exec /usr/lib/cyrus-imapd/imapd Apr 10 13:30:33 cpe-1-2-3-4 master[30736]: about to exec /usr/lib/cyrus-imapd/imapd Apr 10 13:30:33 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30736]: executed Apr 10 13:30:33 cpe-1-2-3-4 master[30737]: about to exec /usr/lib/cyrus-imapd/pop3d Apr 10 13:30:33 cpe-1-2-3-4 pop3[30737]: executed Apr 10 13:30:33 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30730]: executed Apr 10 13:30:33 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30735]: executed Apr 10 13:30:56 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30721]: accepted connection Apr 10 13:30:56 cpe-1-2-3-4 master[30740]: about to exec /usr/lib/cyrus-imapd/imapd Apr 10 13:30:56 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30740]: executed Apr 10 13:30:57 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30721]: login: cyrususer.mcilink.com [5.6.7.8] cyrususer plaintext User logged in Apr 10 13:30:57 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30721]: skiplist: recovered /var/lib/imap/user/g/cyrususer.seen (316 records, 36908 bytes) in 0 seconds Apr 10 13:30:57 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30721]: seen_db: user cyrususer opened /var/lib/imap/user/g/cyrususer.seen Apr 10 13:30:57 cpe-1-2-3-4 imap[30721]: open: user cyrususer opened INBOX Apr 10 13:31:31 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/qmgr[30649]: warning: connect to transport smtp-amavis: No such file or directory Apr 10 13:32:08 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/smtpd[30749]: connect from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1] Apr 10 13:32:08 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/smtpd[30749]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1]: 550 <rruser@localhost>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table; from=<yahoou...@yahoo.com> to=<rruser@localhost> proto=ESMTP helo=<localhost> Apr 10 13:32:08 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/smtpd[30752]: connect from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1] Apr 10 13:32:08 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/smtpd[30752]: E0EFC2018549: client=localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1] Apr 10 13:32:08 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/cleanup[30753]: E0EFC2018549: message-id=<20060410173208.E0EFC2018...@cpe-1-2-3-4.columbus.res.rr.com> Apr 10 13:32:08 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/qmgr[30649]: E0EFC2018549: from=<FETCHMAIL-DAE...@cpe-1-2-3-4.columbus.res.rr.com>, size=2799, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Apr 10 13:32:08 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/smtpd[30752]: disconnect from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1] Apr 10 13:32:08 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/smtpd[30749]: EE9EC20185C1: client=localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1] Apr 10 13:32:09 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/cleanup[30753]: EE9EC20185C1: message-id=<20060410173113.26653.qm...@web60323.mail.yahoo .com> Apr 10 13:32:09 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/qmgr[30649]: EE9EC20185C1: from=<yahoou...@yahoo.com>, size=2100, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Apr 10 13:32:09 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/smtpd[30749]: disconnect from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1] Apr 10 13:32:09 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/lmtp[30756]: EE9EC20185C1: to=<cyrusu...@localhost.columbus.res.rr.com>, orig_to=<cyrususer@localhost>, relay=none, delay=1, status=deferred (connect to /var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp[/var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp]: Permission denied) Apr 10 13:32:09 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/smtp[30754]: E0EFC2018549: to=<yahoou...@yahoo.com>, relay=mx3.mail.yahoo.com[67.28.113.10], delay=1, status=sent (250 ok dirdel) Apr 10 13:32:09 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/qmgr[30649]: E0EFC2018549: removed Apr 10 13:32:31 cpe-1-2-3-4 postfix/qmgr[30649]: warning: connect to transport smtp-amavis: No such file or directory |

Congratulations, I think you've successfully shot yourself in the foot. :-) It looks like the mail is being deferred, because the Postfix transport filter (smtp-amavis) isn't working. If you run the command "mailq", there's probably a bunch of messages being held in the Postfix queue. If so, once the smtp-amavis is working again, the queue should drain with a "postfix flush" command. If you decide to remove the filter in main.cf, then you would need to run the command "postsuper -r ALL" to requeue everything and strips the filter requests out. Regarding the part about not being able to connect to /var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp: I think that means that the process that's running at the time doesn't have permission to access /var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp, *or* something is no longer listening on /var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp. My first guess would be that it has to do with amavis not running. I think you can config amavis to where it's not looking for clamav, if you want to try to get things running again before reinstalling clamav. I dunno man.... Good luck. :-) -- Greg |
