Has anyone found any issues with dovecot running IMAP with Thunderbird
as a client. My old versions of thunderbird (1.0.7) works fine, any of the clients I try and upgrade to anything in the 1.5.x branch odd things happen. With the upgraded thunderbird users connect via IMAP they are 1 message displaced. I.e. if you have 3 messages in an inbox (or any other folder) the 1st message wont display anything, the 2nd will display the body of the 1st, and the 3rd will display the body of the 2nd. I have been able to recreate this problem on a test server at home that was at the time time using the latest branch of dovecot, and the latest thunderbird client. Any ideas ? I can provide most config/debug info on request. Cheers. |

Have you tried deleting the Dovecot indexes so they get rebuilt? This is often a good first step for any apparent Dovecot problem. This question might get a more detailed answer on the dovecot mailing list. which is very active. John -- John Allen Bofferdange, Luxembourg allen{at}vo{dot}lu http://www.homepages.lu/allen |

One of the servers I tested this problem on was a fresh install, and there where no index files, - the production server is a different matter - its been through several updates on dovecot, and I think (though cant be certain) the indexes where rebuilt when the last upgrade was done. If I get some time over this week I'll try and dig a bit deeper into it and see what more I can come up with. Cheers. |

We're having the same problem with Thunderbird 1.5 (Win and Linux) and our ISP uses Dovecot. I requested them to reset the index files but that didn't . Dovecot mailing list doesn't seem to have any answers on this. In addition to the problem mentioned in Q's original post, I've noticed that sometimes some messages open ok (they typically have attachments in them) and sometimes the message body is eg. the last MIME-part of the previous message. Also, if you randomly open messages from the mailbox, the message that actually opens is the one you previously tried to open (so I don't think it's a simple off-by-1 addressing bug). By the way, if you select View -> Message Source menu, it shows in the window title bar the URL of the message, including the message index. Might be useful in debugging. Cheers, Arttu |

I've not had any time to look into this one any more as yet - been too busy with events on in town. Once things quieten down after this weekend I should have some time to actually do 'stuff' in the office. I've got production servers up and running, and test servers with fresh installs both showing the same problems. As you said the mailing list isn't really interested/can't . On of your users even posted there a while back - but didn't get a very fully reply. Anyway once I get some time I'll post back here, and if your in any position to with testing/debugging then please let me know. Cheers, Q |
