Par défaut with DNS, Website moved from local to hosted.

Hello,

My client used to house their own website localy on a 2000 server in a
domain named the same as their website. They moved their website to a
hosting company and they can no longer view their website from within
the company. I realize that there needs to be an alteration in the
DNS. i also realize that there may be a sticky point since the domain
name and the website name are one and the same. I will be visiting
the client tomorow and dont want to make a mistake. i would
appreciate any direction. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Narek

Is you client running AD (Active Directory)?

If so, they will NOT be able to use the base/bare domain
name for the web server since by default all of their
DCs register the bare domain name.

They will (generally) be required to use the www (or other
prefixed) name.

Since it is a public web server you would do better to just
give us the name so we can check that it is properly setup
on the external DNS.
