Hi
- First you should know that these domains are responding to ping requests, which isn't good. - second after some tests I noitice that your mx record refering to mx.svc.telus.net and I saw it's IPAddress changing to 2 different IP (204.209.205.52,199.185.220.200) , are you hosting a public DNS Server? -- I hope that the information above s you Good Luck Jorge Silva MCSA Systems Administrator <jasteel@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:8efcc2tbg4tjnf2ob57cg85lkiv8a1560h@4ax.com... > This is the error we get when a someone fills out a form on our > webserver and hits submit. > > Windows 2000 server and NO exchange server. Thanx for the Message, there are 2 zones configured in our Forward dns
BUT none in the reverse? Could this be a problem? Strange thing about the MX records is that we dont use any of the isp's listed as our isp? Interesting. Doesn't make sense. Not having a reverse zone will not cause this, but is ful for Active Directory 2003 for certain errors. What DNS server is specified in IP properties of the machine???? As far as the original question, you are talking about sending email thru a website using a webform. I know the question strayed a bit, but I would like to try to answer, but you did NOT provide enough information to go on. So far I can assume you are using IIS5 (win2000 as you stated), and you have SMTP installed under IIS. 1. What DNS server(s) is the Win2000 server using in it's IP properties? 2. Unless you specified a specific DNS server to use in SMTP properties in IIS? 3. For the errors you are geting for the 'not able to bind" error to the domains you mentioned, 'reddeer.ca', 'telus.net', and 'telusplanet.net'. By the way, are they the only ones you cannot send to? So far what I believe, is that the incorrect DNS addresses are being used in IP properties or in SMTP. Read these links to see what I'm talking about. It mentions Exchange, but the underlying issue is SMTP service (which Exchange and you are relying on to work). so ignore the Exchange part (or anything Exchange related) and concentrate on the SMTP part about specifying DNS addresses. XIMS: Cannot Send Mail After Re-Installing the IIS SMTP ServiceThe error message is unable to bind to the destination server in dns. Your mail may also seem to disappear. If you check the Exchsrvr\Mailroot\Vsi 1\Badmail ... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290290 Some of your SMTP e-mail messages may remain in your outgoing mail ....Describes an issue where e-mail messages may remain in your outgoing SMTP queues with a status of 'Unable to bind to the destination server in DNS. http://support.microsoft.com/?id=884421 But it's difficult to understand why you are getting those Event ID 708 when you send an email. How did you verify that this Event ID is tied to not being able to send email? Did you also set SMTP logging? If not, set that and use W3C Extended Log File format and select on everything (there are specific ones that I would like to see but can't think of them off hand at the moment). Try to send an email and notice the time, then look for that timestamp in the logs and see what happens. Ace |

let's go back to the basics:
where do you have your DNS server, is it on the same server as the IIS? is the IIS server NIC DNS properties pointing to your local DNS server or to your ISP DNS?
