Can you demonstrate how you atempted to create the zone? Is the zone for a child Active Directory domain or is it for just a subdomain for another purpose? Is DNS running on a domain controller? If so, does the zone already exist? Keep in mind, if you are attempting to promote a machine to become a DC in a new child domain for your existing domain, then the netlogon service witll *automatically* create the child domain name, provided the machine you are promoting is set to this DNS's IP address in the new child domain DC's IP properties. -- Ace Innovative IT Concepts, Inc Willow Grove, PA This posting is provided "AS-IS" with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights. I'm performing the domain sistem in virtual mashine. there i depleyed 2003
enterprise windows, one is pdc, the second is bdc. u know, i already have the mashine u assumed, i mean, for the reserve purposes. Anyway, here is the configuration: My domain is azertac.org. The bdc is teshtmashin.azertac.org, and the bdc is testmashin2.azertac.org. when i create soemthing in bdc, it appeares to bdc too. But i think it is not a child domain system. I mean, i wanted to create like this: Domain: azertac.org Domain controller: teshtmashin.azertac.org Child domain testmashin2.teshtmashin.azertac.org Just say, is everything, okay or someting wrong. Thank you "Ace Fekay [MVP]" wrote: > In news:7AB15824-061D-47DA-8CE7-ED6191DD275E@microsoft.com, > Kerberos <Kerberos@discussions.microsoft.com> stated, which I commented on > below: > > When trying to creat child domain on my dns configuration i see such > > error: > > > > The DNS server encountered a problem while attempting to loadthe > > zone. You are trying to promote a child domain controller. But it looks like you are getting the names mixed up. Let's changed the child domain name from "teshtmashin" to :mychild" to make it easier to follow the names. Try this for the names. Your parent root domain will be "azertac.org". We will also create a domain controller in a child domain under azertac.org. Let's call the child domain "mychild", so the fully qualified name will be "mychild.azertac.org". azertac.org: Domaincontroller: "testmachine.azertac.org" mychild.azertac.org: domaincontroller: "childmachine.mychild.azertac.org" Make sense? Just make sure that DNS on both domain controllers point to the teshtmashin.azertac.org. The child zone should automatically be created. If you are using any other DNS address in IP properties, then it can cause problems. I hope I understood your post and my post was ful. Ace |
