Hello all,
I've been experiencing a weird problem for last few weeks that I can't for the life of me figure out. We have a W2K3 native domain with XP clients and the domain controllers have DNS installed. All domain DNS information is stored in AD integrated forward and reverse lookup zones. The DNS servers use root hints to resolve outside queries with conditional forwarders configured for the immediate parent domain (i.e. our domain is w.x.y.z and there is a conditional forwarder to x.y.z). Only domain clients can access the internal DNS servers (no Internet queries are allowed through). We have an intermittent problem when a web browser accesses www.microsoft.com in that the client receives either a 404 not found error or the page is read from the browser's web cache and isn't displayed properly. A couple of refreshes of the browser fixes the problem, but I can't figure out why it's happening in the first place. I'm seeing the same behavior on my home network which runs a W2K DNS server. Since it's intermittent, it's difficult to diagnose. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks. |
