Hi all,
I just changed our primary DNS on Win 2000 to a different box running Win2003. The origianl W2K box is now serving as secondary DNS. There are 6 forward lookup zones. I could add a new host and the changes are reflected on secondary DNS for all 6 forward lookup zones. However, there's 3 of them, the start of authority (SOA) still pointed to the original DNS box. I have tried "transfer from master" and refresh. What should I do or check so that SOA is pointing to the new primary DNS? Thank you in advance. |

Only Active Directory integrated masters automatically update the Primary Name server (MNAME) on the SOA. If you move the Primary by doing a zone transfer to a secondary then changing that secondary to a primary, you will have to manually edit the Primary Name server on the SOA tab of zone properties. -- Best regards, Kevin D. Thank you for the information.
I did the zone transfer. So, my question now is that if I could just put the curser in the field and modify it instead of browsing? The reason I asked was if I browse for SOA primary server in one of the forward lookup zones, the primary server is in the (same as parent folder). "Kevin D.
