KB article 304261 says you can use a non-local (network) drive (NAS, SAN)
with SQL server 2000. I've got Trace flag 1807 set on (as per article) but it fails with error 5105 (not 5110 as per article). Has anyone done this successfully? Running SQL Server 2000 SP3 standard edition on Windows 2000 server SP4. |

If you are planning on placing a database file on a mapped network drive,
don't go there. It's not worth whatever you are trying to save. I've never gotten network drives to work properly with SQL2000. Better
to use UNC names. However, I'm with Linchi Shea on the point that it's not a good idea, even if you *can * do it....
