It works for me. My httpd.conf entry looks much the same as yours,
except for the slashes:

Alias /cdrom "o:"
<Directory "o:">
Options Indexes MultiViews
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>

I'm guessing the slashes are messing things up. It's been a long time,
but I seem to recall having to fool around with them before I found the
right combination.
