An interesting development....
After uninstalling Majordomo from a RAQ4 server using the RPM, no email is now delivered to mailboxes on that server. Email can be sent from and via accounts on the server, email destined for accounts can be redirected to third-party accounts on a separate server, but emails destined for accounts on the server simply disappear without trace. A nuisance, as system emails are being lost. I find it unlikely that Majordomo was involved with local delivery, but the circumstancial evidence is compelling. What a shame my host couldn't provide support at the time and I was forced to blunder on somewhat blindly so as to try and stop spam being sent through my server. Is this the end of the Probert Encyclopaedia? You may hope so, but it has survived greater issues in the past <g> Windows-based hosting never looked so good..... More likely that when Majordomo uninstalled, it screwed up your MTA's configuration files, or left something behind in them. :-( At a guess, somewhere in one of those config files there's a setting instructing the MTA to pipe all local mail through some part of Majordomo. That part no longer exists, so local mail fails. You may need to find out which MTA you're using (e.g. Postfix, Qmail, Exim, Sendmail) and check with their support mailing lists how to fix the problem. -- Toby A Inkster BSc (Hons) ARCS [Geek of HTML/SQL/Perl/PHP/Python/Apache/Linux] [OS: Linux 2.6.17.14-mm-desktop-9mdvsmp, up 36 days, 15:55.] [Now Playing: Ben Folds Five - Smoke] Bottled Water http://tobyinkster.co.uk/blog/2008/02/18/bottled-water/ |

I can probably give you a hand if it's Exim; others I'm not so sure about. -- ================== Remove the "x" from my email address Jerry Stuckle JDS Computer Training Corp. jstucklex@attglobal.net ================== |

Nah, bollocks to that. The hosting company failed to provide reasonable customer service, the RAQ4 is a piece of obsolete crap, I'm migrating to another company.
