Hi all,
I've just had someone saying this webpage is all messed up, http://www.uk-conference-venues.co.uk/ I've tested it in IE, FF and Opera and can't find any problem. Can someone have a look and see if it is messed up for them. Many thanks. |

I know it sometimes happens if I put too wide an image on the page (drag the page narrow enough and you will see the images on the right suddenly drop down in IE) But I overcome this with the top big image by putting it in a div that expands and contracts with the page. Could it be that the top image doesn't contract with some peoples set ups? There is also a 500 wide image behind the peelback system could this be causing the problem if they have javascript switched off? Thanks again |

I don't see any such behavior. In fact, I find your page resizes much better than most - a very well done job! I'm wondering if they're using an old version of IE - maybe they never updated to IE 6. Can you ask them which version they have? Or, maybe they've already updated to IE7... -- ================== Remove the "x" from my email address Jerry Stuckle JDS Computer Training Corp. jstucklex@attglobal.net ================== |

Looks okay to me (both IE and FireFox). IE reports that there is a script error somewhere on the page. Typical unful: "A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to Debug? Line: 16 Error: Object expected", but this doesn't seem to compromise the behaviour of the page. -- Brian Cryer www.cryer.co.uk/brian |

Thanks all, I will try and find out what settings they have tomorrow, no one else has got the problem and I can't replicate it, typical that it has to be someone who we are trying to close a deal on. But I don't know why it wouldn't be shrinking for them. BTW - I've never been a fan of dynamically resizing images. I don't like the distortion. IE6's overflow behavior is broken. It incorrectly expands the width to fit the content instead of letting it spill out like other browsers do. When this happens with floated elements, it naturally causes the now too-wide element to slide under the left column. This bug was corrected in IE7, assuming you trigger standards mode. If you set overflow:hidden on the image's container, it might stop IE6 from misbehaving, but I haven't looked at your code so I don't know if there might be negative impacts to other browsers. -- Berg |
