My current web host is Dot5hosting and they have been some lame
recently that I got fed up and decided to transfer to another host even though I was apid up until August. The problem is that D5H is having so much technical problems, there is no one on their staff to answer questions or provide . I'm on the older version of vDeck (they are trying to migrate everyone to the newer one) and there are no tools to make the change. Or if there are, they are broken. When I do a whois on myself, it's clear that D5H used Tucow, but I have no account with them. My preferred new host (Bluehost) pushed it back on me when I asked for . Any words of wisdom out there? How do I get out of this spiral of non- support? Morgan |

Also tell them to "unlock" your domain and give you the "EPP Authorization Code". Then, find another registrar (preferably one that isn't your host) and transfer the domain. -- Tina Peters AxisHOST.com | BuyAVPS.com Serving the web since 1997 |

Hi Tina, As I mentioned in my original post, there is no one available on D5H's technical to answer questions or provide . Literally, NO ONE -- they even say when you call their toll-free number that no support staff is available because of internal technical problems. So, now what? Morgan |

Well, here's what I did -- I got on their livechat line and pretended I was someone new, rather than an existing customer. They were able to give me my login and password (which as NOT the same as my vdeck pw, so no wonder I flailed). I logged in to manage.opensrs.net, changed the domain pointers and then locked down the domain again. Voila ! thanks for the suggestions -- it's pretty pitiful that you have to pretend you a new customer to get . Yikes ! |

Yikes ! You will want to transfer the domain name away from them immediately. If you can't get now, think of the mess you'll be in when your domain comes up for renewal and you can't get it renewed. --Tina |

And for heaven's sake, do not transfer the domain to your new web host. Keep it 100% separate now and always. That way you've always covered your butt if your web host suddenly vanishes. Jack |
