Damn. Another Windows screwup. Suddenly this morning my internet
stopped working. Looking at the status, it said my LAN connection was configured with the internal address instead of from the DHCP server. Trying to renew a lease gave me a note about trying a socket operation on a non-socket. To make a long story short - I found the exact problem on MS's website (lucky I had a second computer). But I had to get into the registry and delete two keys, then completely remove TCP/IP from the machine. Of course, I had other things using it also - like my network printers. So those had to be reconfigured first - and other services had to be removed. Then I had to reinstall TCP/IP. I got it working finally. But I lost 4 hours today with this crap and will have to spend another hour or two in the morning getting the rest of the stuff reconfigured. What a PITA. My OS/2 and Unix machines never have problems like this! -- ================== Remove the "x" from my email address Jerry Stuckle JDS Computer Training Corp. jstucklex@attglobal.net ================== |
