Do you address my message to yourself? Does a natural man
comprehend language of the spirit? Do they argue where they have
no understanding? As is the case with the murderer who dug the
pit for another? He has fallen into his own creation. I watch
him attempt to claw from it. He races and struggles to avoid
already having been caught. While he yet has spirit that
confirms this, if he dare listent to it, he instead denies it in
great fear and lack of understanding. So the noose tightens.
Fear is met with still more fear. Until any opportunity for
escape is closed. Fire, yes, ignited by the tongue and musings
of the fool. See what a GREAT fire it is!

i address your message, yes. my response applies to your message. as i'm an
atheist, it would be silly for me to address (apply) it to myself.

> Does a natural man
> comprehend language of the spirit?

lack of proof of a spirit aside, part of the problem is that no one can.
that means that one may believe ANYTHING about the spirit world, god
included, and be just as accurately incorrect as the next. this is where
pascal makes himself look a bit silly, since that's what he begins his wager
with 'no one *can* know gawd' <paraphrased>.

> Do they argue where they have
> no understanding?

i don't know. i argue where ever i see fit. as for being allowed to draw
conclusions about a postulate or theory someone has, abso-fucking-lutely!
were there proof, there'd be no understanding...or at least a means to fill
in the gaps to create a good picture. since man invented gawd(s), one cannot
understand a specific gawd or spirit unless he invests himself in learning
its resident culture. it has little to do with non-existent things, however.

to where exactly, does he race? he's in a pit, remember? the fellow should
have watched his step. the circumstance was wholly avoidable. you consider
the acceptance or denial of 'spririt' as inevitable and unavoidable. that
certainly is not the case. 'spirit' is a concept...unless you're talking
about jim beam.

> While he yet has spirit that
> confirms this,

confirms what? that he's in a pit? does he need a spirit for that?!

> if he dare listent to it,

he's avoiding listening to whatever voices you're saying are in his
head...he doesn't want to be considered crazy on top of having fallen into a
pit, like a dumbass.

> he instead denies it in
> great fear and lack of understanding.

no, it's like i said, if you hear voices in your head, you should seek
psychiatric . plus, it's hard for him or anyone else to see he's not in
a pit. this is completely unlike spiritualism where there is no objective
condition for the fallen man that everyone can observe and agree upon -
that's what you get when you have no proof.

> So the noose tightens.

thought he was in a pit? you're very confusing.

> Fear is met with still more fear.

only by the reluctant, unwitting, or cowardly.

> Until any opportunity for
> escape is closed.

a ladder? in the initial condition of your analogy, there was no mention of
a ladder. am i to assume there was one there the whole time? he should have
climbed out then. since there is no spirit whereby a person can heft
themselves out of said pit, i see spiritualism even less ful than this
mans own efforts to free himself.

> Fire, yes, ignited by the tongue and musings
> of the fool.

are you saying your tonge is hard and rough enough to produce fire? mine is
kinda wet and soft-ish, not unlike most other people's. now, if by musings,
you mean wit...well, that's most often very dull or very sharp or somewhere
inbetween the two. since you have yet to 'muse', and given the intellectual
effort afforded in this writing of yours, it would be hard for me to
conceive of you being able to produce even a slight burning sensation in my
side - i doubt you can make me laugh enough. i could be wrong on that
however. if you post more of this drivel, chances are that subsequent posts
of yours will probably degrade into even more sillines.

> See what a GREAT fire it is!

ummmm, no, your analogy is that i'm in a pit, remember?

Who's neck is the noose around?

Who is the recipient of masterfully laid snares?

What heathen is raging?

What "murderer" has fallen into his own creation?

Drew

the 'heathen' of course. that would technically be the godless or
irreligious. and though really the comment was aimed at all participating in
the current thread, i pay particular attention to religious babble and
actually fit the definition. so, aside from condecending to the entire list
of participants for our 'raging' - which the religious tend to like to do,
condecend that the rest of us just don't 'get it' and their morals are far
superlative to other mortals' - i think the analogy is full of logical holes
and is merely drivel. now if the kook wants to defend his position, i invite
it.

> Pay attention.

yes, please do. why you're jumping in to say i missed the point, when i
clearly got it, is beyond me.

You're taking it too literally. Think metaphorically.

Think back to the days when you read "Canterbury Tales" in school and
you'll get it.

I'm government, son, you'll have to school me in what "eod" means.

In my world it usually means "Explosive Ordnance" detection, division,
disposal, deployment .... usually anything that blows up.

This morning my project manager came in and was talking about this

While he was talking, I did the "Mikes hard lemonade" angry

possible but VERY hard."--

Sorry for the "son" - I'm a Southerner by birthright. And after a few
too many, the drawl comes out to play.

Wasn't my intention to condescend. And I'm sorry if it came out that
way. Genuinely.

Ah. Gotcha. I think that I didn't get that is a high sign that I'm too
obsessive about my work.

After another few, I might just get that out of my system.

BTW, I don't think anyone was implying that you were being too "dense"
to understand what Giganews was saying. I know I didn't.

Perhaps I'm not as intuitive as I think I am, but I think GN was
saying that OMH has been, how you say, hoisted on his own petard.

It wasn't you GP was talking about - it was OMH. HE'S the one falling
into his own trap. It's HIS neck the noose is around. GN was just
being ... a bit flowery and poetic in his/her goosing of OMH.

FWIW, I react the same way you do about being an atheist when someone
talks about the military - might be because I'm directly affected by
budget cuts and such. Might be because you can't turn around without
SOMEONE bad-mouthing it. When you're always expecting to be slammed,
you tend to expect it. And I often do expect it.

But regardless of what anyone here thinks, I'm not out to piss anyone
off (unless it's OMH - and even then, it's a fringe benefit). Not you.
Not Jerry.

All right, now GN IS being a jerk. But he really wasn't talking about
you before - he was talking about OMH. I think he's just frustrated
because you're refusing to "get it."

No offense meant.

i know...i did get that.

i know. however 'his/her' goosing wasn't 'his/her's. i believe it is a quote
from revelation. even the pit analogy was a quote. the fact that i know this
as an atheist, and seeing it spewed out here, just taunts me to break it
down and ask for its perpetuator to explain it in real terms...to discover
if he/she/it can - as opposed to just pasting everything with a
conventionally 'wise' hand-me-down.

instead, i got 'bingo!' which answered that question for me quite nicely.

i don't get the budget cut-n-such as a tie-in to bad-mouthing. and i don't
prosthetylize. although a good friend of mine slapped me in the face once
because i said i was an atheist. she had seen me as an ideal christian of
good moral fiber...the statement floored her as inconceivable. we're still
good friends. she just thinks i'm in denial. i just laugh.

i don't get worked up about any of this. that would just take energy
needlessly. you meet all kinds out here. jerry and i had a 'heated' debate
over religion a couple of weeks back. name-calling and the whole bit. we
just don't see eye to eye. if you notice, we get along just fine as if that
thread had never taken place. you and i may be chummy here and be at
eachother's throughts in another thread. it's fun like that. i'm not ever
gunna get angry. even with omh, it's the same. while i think he was a waste
of sperm and egg, i'm not going to work myself into a fuss about something i
can't change...i just understand him/her/it for what it is, and then move
on. i think we all know he's pretty kooky. ;^)

i'm pretty thick skinned. and, while i knew he was referring to omh, we've
all been 'raging'...see the length and depth of this thread? so, it can
equally apply to all. what i wanted gn to do was to apply appologetics to
his biblical passage reference(s). he obviously didn't 'get it' even though
i took paigns to break down each fallicy...begging him to respond, in
essense. i assume either he didn't catch that or he can't make a descent
defense. i tend to believe the latter, since ad-homonyms are generally a
sure sign of that.

btw, my refusal to 'get it' the *way* he intended it is a conscious
decision. i got it just fine. i just wasn't going to let him off the hook
with passing meaningless analogy off as wise or profound. ;^)

Well yeah, of course. At least at any job in the Walla Walla area.
See around here, Kiddo...Sykes is like a big joke. Mostly cause they
had really fucked up business practices which wound up drivin 'em
straight into an inescapable hole of shit. Basically they screwed all
the people they workin for 'em who really knew their stuff and then in
retaliation all the good people either quit or wound up gettin fired
for 'not playin nice'. To further complicate things they had this
idiot policy of NEVER hiring anyone back if they quit or got fired.
So needless to say it didn't take them very long to go through every
semi-technical oriented person in the entire area and afterwards they
were just left with the fuckin dregs of society. Then, to compound
matters even worse, they couldn't afford to pay people benefits, so
they had this bullshit story about how if you worked there for six
months you'd get benefits...except about five and a half months in
they magically always seemed to come up with an excuse to either fire
or layoff those about to get benefits. And so then as a result they
very quickly built up a reputation around town. The big joke for a
long time was how EVERYBODY knew someone who "used" to work at Sykes.
LOL

Oh and then, because they lost all their technical minded
people...well, it reached a point where they simply could no longer do
computer support...at all. So they wound up downgrading to telephone
tech support and a few months back I guess they were downgrading even
further to do bank/billing support for some financial outfit. Their
original staff was somewhere around 300...now it's like 30. Their
building used to be the pinnacle of modern coolness, with doors that
opened using your ID badges, top of the line computer systems, this
uber cool looking server room encased in glass, beautifully landscaped
with sod and trees...gone, all gone. The landscape was left for shit,
it turned brown, the grass died, most of the trees died and weeds took
over everywhere. All those computer that were top of the line in
1999...yeah, they haven't been upgraded since and so all their systems
are nearly a decade out of date. Their server room...nearly
dismantled, all the good, viable equipment was sold off and now it's
just running a little bare-bones network setup. They don't do the
name badges anymore either, they switched the doors over to the
traditional lock and key, etc, etc.

So yeah, I don't mind having Sykes on my resume...it's like a fuckin
badge of honor around here in this town. People are like, "Oh
Sykes...so how long did you serve?" It's like our hometown fuckin
Vietnam of sorts. LOL
