This is really driving me nuts. I have worked my tail off to get
listed with Google withing the first few hundred sites on the very competitive search term "poetry" Fine. But in the last few months I've been dropped so low I/m not listed in the first 1000. However with Yahoo my site is #55 and with MSN #274 on "poetry." I believe that is a respectable showing which my site should have. Why is this happening? Why is Google killing my placement? l I have another site http://www.site-programming.com which I use to test changes that I intend to apply to my main site. I just discovered that Google has indexed this site, obviously against my will. To them it looks like a bogus attempt to create a large number of back-links. It is quite obvious that Google is using this testing site against me to kill my ratings. Talk about unfair !! Question? How can I PERMANENTLY keep google off this testing site and get then to return my main site (http://Prose-n-Poetry.com) site to the status it should enjoy.... in fact does enjoy with other major search engines ? I am aware of Robots.txt and I have it set to disallow * Bob |

This happened once before and a Google Rep was on this forum and got my site un-banned. Short of that (unless there is a Google Rep reading this who will get my site removed from any banned list) how can I get Google to drop Site-programming from their index and un- block and relist Prose-n-Poetry? bob |

I'm not sure how you are getting no listing for Site-programming but this is what I see: http://www.google.com/search?q=site-programming.com On that page site-programming.com is listed as the very first one. The description of it is exactly the same as the description for my site, Prose-n-Poetry.com. If you look at the omitted results they are several of the same pages as Prose-n-Poetry (PnP). So I still have the problem. I went to here: http://services.google.com/urlconsole/controller and requested that site-programming be removed and I was told that it would within 5 days. However, even when removed, that does not necessarily remove any black- listing of Prose-n-Poetry. So how do I check that and if my suspicions are correct, how do I get any black-listing of PnP removed ? bob |

For example www.site-programming.com is protected by .htaccess, whereas http://site-programming.com isn't. Since it's already been spidered, though, I think your only option is to take it out of the index. Take the site down and use the Url Removal Tool to get the individual urls out of the index. I edited httpd.conf and made a permanent redirect for site-programming to www.site-programming. I went back to http://services.google.com/urlconsole/controller and made sure that I requested that both the www and the without www be removed. Still I see no way to make google aware that I was not trying to cheat their system and that they should not penalize me for this. I never requested that the test site ever be indexed. I have never made any links to the test site so I really don't know how they located it. I worked very hard to get PnP within position #300 or so on a search on "poetry." That may not seem like much, but most people use more than one word in searches. In searches on "poetry" + one other word, I was very often coming up on page 1. bob |
