Well when you say it isn't there, do you mean that for you it's no longer visible in the search results? It's at no. 2 in Gogle UK (it wasn't yesterday, but there you go), and it's at 2 in Google too. What's this about sitemaps? Was this for the same site? Even if they > [webmasters] don't remove the text, just watch them drop in SERPS ![]() So far they have climbed to the top. This is one of these things you hate - almost no links reported by G and Yahoo, low PR, page is almost without content, just about two hidden phrases - and lo, they got to #1. For months there were only two pages on the subject above me - one is wiki, second is a part of huge Polish daily newspaper's portal. I thought these are beyond reach - seems I was wrong. No idea what is going on. Even if they > [webmasters] don't remove the text, just watch them drop in SERPS ![]() I have hidden text on my home page, <http://cfaj.freeshell.org/>, and I turn up high on Google with combinations like "chess shell", "chess cruciverbalist", and "cryptic shell" (all without the quotes). The reason for it being there is just laziness; I wanted to remove a section that is CGI generated, so rather than rewrite the CGI, which would involve checking that I hadn't used the same script elsewhere, I just added a { display: hidden; } to the .css file my main page uses. If anyone wants to try reporting it, I'd be interested in seeing what it does to my Google results. Other sections of my site are more important, so I don't really care if the front page loses out. -- Chris F.A.
