I am trying to reconstruct my website following a disk crash
that rendered all of my data inaccessible. Fortunately, Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and no doubt others (my web logs are inaccessible) have been sending out robots to scan my website regularly. I have done a Google search on my site: and have retrieved several of my pages from Google's cache (unfortunately, many of my pages were "secret" in the sense that there was no link to them from the home site -- you could access the page only if you knew its name -- and those pages were never scanned by the robots and are consequently lost). My problem is that I cannot figure out how to retrieve my images from Google's cache. I can locate some of my images from a Google Images search, but the images are scaled down, so small as to be almost worthless. How can I retrieve the full-sized images from Google's cache, so that I can rebuild my website? Or does Google discard the full-sized images, and save only the scaled-down image? That seems to be out of character for Google; my impression is that they never discard anything. Please respond to shachter@gmail.com (shacter "at" gmail.com) or to this newsgroup; and, if you cannot answer the question for Google, but can answer the question for Yahoo or other search engines, or for the "way back" machine (is that still in existence?) that too would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any and all replies. Jay F. So unless you have them backed up or find them on the way back machine you are out of luck. > > Jay F. Not a good idea.
