My site was launched 4 months ago and has over 3000 pages if good content.
We have set different meta tags for each page and unique text, although similar products appear on the same pages together with their descriptions. Google has indexed 2 pages, MSN 85 and Yahoo 1185. What I do not understand is how I am supposed to know if I am in the sandbox or if Google is objecting the format or content of my site either way having only 2 pages indexed is a disaster. I have a PR0 of zero and I know it takes time for that to change but how can I fix the site. I have a backlink from a PR5 and some PR4's but not a huge number. Some backlinks are not yet showing which probably means that those site need to be spidered. I also have up-to-date sitemaps. What if anything can I do. I have asked everyone I know for a backlink and added my site to as many directories as possible. What if anything can I do other than "Keep building backlinks"? |

LOL. Probably not the problem, in fact I would say it isn't the problem. A site requires links to it to show it's worthiness. It takes time to get stable ranking. The site has only been up for 4 months. Really still quite new to get all the pages indexed without good incoming links. Especially since it is also a highly competitive field, even if all the pages were indexed they probably would not rank well. Well, if we are talking about www.lampspecs.co.uk then YOU really blew anchoring your home page!!!! 3,000 pages and they all point to http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Bulbs-Tubes, which of course is NOT your home page. While your site map says Light Bulbs & Tubes points to http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/ which happens to be the correct home page. All you have to do, is change all your Light Bulbs & Tubes hyperlinks to point to your correct home page of http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/ and your Google Page rank should go right up due to 3,000 internal links to your home page which are also well anchored. You have simply shot yourself in the foot, the way your web pages currently link to the WRONG hyperlink!!!! Should be a simple fix with any search and replace utility. -- john gohde, the only REAL SEO on this ng. ![]() |

I am not sure where you are talking about "Anchor text" are you talking about the left hand tab which is called "Light Bulbs & Tubes"? If you are then I have a problem as the whole system is template based and I cannot point a tab to route. What I can do is point it to http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/ will that do the trick? Paul. |

Well actually, I do believe that BB developed the concept of anchoring your home page? Instead of calling your home page, Home, you are referring to it as 'Light Bulbs & Tubes' which are your keywords. While your site is somewhat confusing since it does NOT use the word Home, the hyperlink is in the correct position on the header of each web page. So, users should be able to deal with it. And, the search engines will give your home page a better position since you are referring to your home page with the important keywords for your site. Care to add anything, BB? |

I will ask you a simple question. Clicking on your Light Bulbs & Tubes Tab takes you where? Is it not: http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Bulbs-Tubes ? That is NOT your home page. So, you have 3,000 pages that link to http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Bulbs-Tubes In short, what connection do any of these 3,000 pages have to your home page? None, as far as I can see. Quoting from my original reply ... 3,000 pages and they all point to http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Bulbs-Tubes, which of course is NOT your home page. While your site map says Light Bulbs & Tubes points to http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/ which happens to be the correct home page. All you have to do, is change all your Light Bulbs & Tubes hyperlinks to point to your correct home page of http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/ and your Google Page rank should go right up due to 3,000 internal links to your home page. |

Our home page is http://www.lampspecs.co.uk but for some reason http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Bulbs-Tubes seems to be either an alias or duplicate content I am not sure as the site is built dynamically. Clearly Google objects to this situation. The problem is that it seems to be a bug in the system I have purchased as I cannot change this behaviour I have to get the provider to change the cause of this. If and when it is fixed will I have to do a re-inclusion request to Google? |

My home page is http://www.lampspecs.co.uk The page is duplicated on http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Bulbs-Tubes I do not know how to tell if this is a duplicated page or two URL's pointing to the same content. Now there is a back link from all pages back to the home page and you can see it easily by mousing over the "Lamp Specs" logo, but there is no Anchor text associated with it. So my question is does you original statement that 3000 pages do not link back to you home page still stand? It is obvious that Google does not like my site and won't index its content. As far as I can see it is not clear why, there are a number of suspects: 1. The lack of anchor text back to the home page, but there is a link (The logo). 2. Duplicated page or two URLs pointing to the same page (I am not sure which) 3. When I use analysis tools some links show with session id's, but using a browser does not show them, I am not sure if Google sees them and objects. 4. The site has a lot of part numbers and description for similar products, does Google see this a spamming and excludes the site accordingly. 5. The site is not W3c compliant, but that does not stop other site being indexed. |

The home page has 287 validation errors. http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...ss=1&verbose=1 That is more than a few errors. ![]() Your code is one big complicated mess of style sheets and perhaps frames. It is beyond my know how. If Google wont take the design, seems like a clear breach of contract to me. The longer you wait the less likely you are to recover damages in civil court. Demand that the developer get your site into Google, fix the code, or give you your money back for failing to perform. My advice is the same as before, the code needs to be changed. Another possiblity is to do a simple web page redirect of http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Bulbs-Tubes to your home page. Google might accept that. |

What he should do is put a key phrase into the alt text of the logo graphic. He should also learn who the regulars are here and why they're accepted as such. >> 2. It is beyond my know how. It's quite possible, without going to the trouble of looking, that engines can't get beyond your home page because of coding errors stopping the spiders from navigating. Also, I do believe BB just volunteered to re-write his code for FREE. Be my guest, BB. Now, put up. Or, shut up. ![]() |
