Hello,

I am considering to pay the US $299.00 to submit my site to Yahoo
Directory. Is it worth my money to do this in terms of increasing my
page ranking, getting a higher ranking in the search engines, and
getting more hits? Thanks.

I'm hearing that Yahoo are using some kind of javascript redirect from
their directory lately, anyone else hearing that? Or is that out-dated
now?

Dunno.
I managed to get listed sometime in 2000 on the free listing, but on
recent checking found I wasn't there anymore so I guessed they weeded
out all the non-payers.

I bit the bullet and paid the £170 or whatever it worked out to get
re-listed just the other week.
In the grand scheme of things if I only get a few reasonable sales of
kit from it, it will have covered it's cost, so worth the outlay In my
mind, of course I am sometimes wrong!

It is debated. I don't think many people use the Yahoo Directory directly,
but some people say it is a great IBL despite the redirect.

It doesn't look like they redirect the links anymore - I am pretty sure
they used to. Some of the categories have decent PR and are not
overcrowded. I suppose it is dependant what PR and what category you
get. Frankly though, for that price I would expect some traffic as well
as just PR which I doubt you will get.

I came across where I read that about the link redirecting. They never
did it from the foreign directories so you still got Google-juice from
them apparently.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I think for now I'll keep the $299
US in my pocket for submitting to Yahoo Directories. It does seem like
a lot of money to pay for a link, especially if I won't get a lot of
direct clicks from the link.
