standpoint. I am considering changing a critacle page on my site to look like this http://www.summerlin-las-vegas-real-.../hometest1.rub . If you have time please take a gander and let me know if that is spammy from an seo point of view. Vegas-Kid |

See, it's called target marketing. I can start off as a new domain and go after "las Vegas real estate" and see no success for 3 years, or, i can target something with less competition and higher revenues. While I appreciate your response I was looking for you to analyze the page from your professions point of view. If I wanted advice on real estate markets, I would talk to myself. I do appreciate you taking the time to respond and will take your advice into consideration and tone down the keywords; however, I would have valued it much more if it were from an seo perspective. It was, it's called keyword stuffing. There is no much point in having your page appear on #1 of a SERP if the title people see is *Summerlin ... Summerlin ... Summerlin ...* Summerlin bla bla bla Summerlin bla Vegas bla Summerlin bla b la bla Summerlin I skip those results and I am probably not alone. It looks cheap and spammy. Also, once a customer is on your site do you want him/her to read something that makes him/her do business with you, or do you want to please a robot with feeding it the same word 73 [1] times? [1] Aargh, I tried to exaggerate in a subtle way, the real figure however, seems to be 123 (!) Free tip: change your title to something like: Summerlin Real Estate - Your dream home in Summerlin, Las Vegas Ok, another freebee: change all your h3's into h2's. Moreover (yes! more free tips), you might want to change: The Arbors - The Arbors' higher elevation delivers unparalleled views of the city. Stretching across nearly 1,300 acres, bla bla bla into: <dl> <dt><a href="..."><h3>The arbors</h3></a></dt> <dd>The Arbors higher bla bla bla</dd> : : </dl> My HTML is a bit rusty, and I don't want to look up if the a element should be inside the h3 or vice versa. With some CSS tweaking you can make it look like it's now, but it might be better SEO wise thanks to the h3 (yes, that was the "black hat" trick of this week). -- John Experienced Perl programmer: http://castleamber.com/ Net::Google and Perl: http://johnbokma.com/perl/net-google.html |

The majority of my consumers dont have the slightest and go to where ever aol, google and yahoo tell them to. Sad but true. The goal is simply to get people into the home search. I'm not trying to sell them on Summerlin, they have already decided that by searching for "Summerlin real estate" or Homes in Summerlin". I am trying to sell the search engine on summerlin and sell the visitor a house. Does the search engine think it's to much is what i care about. > Free tip: change your title to something like: > > Summerlin Real Estate - Your dream home in Summerlin, Las Vegas > > Ok, another freebee: change all your h3's into h2's. Thanks for tips John, I'm not asking anyone here to do my work, i am seeking advise from professionls like yourself who dont mind taking a minute to out noobs like myself. If this is not the place to post questions about seo tactics, then i apologize, but i thought it was. Truely, i do appreciate you taking the time to post those tips. Vegas-Kid |

Yup, can only talk for myself, but imagine: x% of the people who might find your site don't go there because the title looks like crap. Questions: - can you get the same effect with a normal title (I say: YES) - how big is x%? (I have no idea). But yeah, some people might click. Then the next question is, how many people stop reading after 30 times the same keyword? Ask someone to read it, and what he thinks of the text. You might lose y% because the text is crap. Question: - how big is y% (I have no idea). In my opinion you're throwing away (x% + y%) visitors because you use SEO techniques of the previous century, because I am afraid that Google also is aware of the repeated keywords. This awareness might grow in the coming years... > That being said, i appreciate your opinion and will probably tone down > the keywords some. Good point. I always write just as natural as possible and have no problem to get a good serp. I have no idea of how hard your competition is, but by aiming wide and writing natural you might get a little more visitors, and more serious visitors. Never look down at your customers :-D. >> Also, once a customer is on your site do you want him/her to read >> something that makes him/her do business with you, or do you want to >> please a robot with feeding it the same word 73 [1] times? > > The goal is simply to get people into the home search. Wrong: you should care about: if I get x visitors, does y% of those visitors go away because the text looks crap? >> Free tip: change your title to something like: >> >> Summerlin Real Estate - Your dream home in Summerlin, Las Vegas >> >> Ok, another freebee: change all your h3's into h2's. > > Thanks for tips John, I'm not asking anyone here to do my work, i am > seeking advise from professionls like yourself who dont mind taking a > minute to out noobs like myself. John he was told this and about his title and a few other pointers that he refused to follow. http://groups.google.com/group/alt.i...aa197001e760cb This has happened before with others that you try an give advice to then they don't follow. Then get all hyper because no one gives them to much more detail when they ask again. Why should I give out the same advice and waste my time once again? I am for one fed up with it and which is why not offer it to much any more. I once asked money for advice (remember the SEO reports), and I am afraid that some didn't follow the advice as well. And then I felt bad about it, so I stopped advertizing. It's a shame, because I do think I give sound advice. But sometimes I want to take the website of the customer, burn it, and put my own version there. It gets too personal :-) > Then get all hyper because no one gives them > to much more detail when they ask again. Why should I give out the > same advice and waste my time once again? Yeah, I often keep in mind that this group has plenty of lurkers who are afraid (or don't care) to ask questions, but do like to read tips. So even if the OP doesn't "get it", others might have learned a thing or two. Other thing is that it makes me think again about things :-) -- John Experienced Perl programmer: http://castleamber.com/ Firefox Fast Search http://johnbokma.com/firefox/keymarks-explained.html |

You see them as having succeeded back when they did with this tactic. This is not the same thing as succeeding with it now today. It may well be that the days you could get away with that are gone. Quite possibly they succeeded then because of the spam but that made them visible and due to their visibility they got solid good inbound links and that's why they survive, not because of the way they spam.
