Do sites from free domains get indexed well? I have a client that has
a free domain at bravehost.com. I am not sure what I can do to improve his page ranking with a free domain. There are many site improvements that I can make for him, and he already has a number of links (out, I still have to find out if there are any INTO his site). But what kidn of results can I predict, outside of some SEO on the page with a free domain. (IE, can I offer him any chance at being within the first few pages in google and other serch engines? Thanks, |

Domains are under $10/year, and hosting can easily be had for well under $50/year - why doesn't he just get his own domain? If he's serious about his website that's really the only thing it makes sense to do. Denise |

If you'll buy NEW domain, you will wait for several months to get good ranking is SE. If you use free hosting (and know some tricks how to use it right) you take over SERPs in a few days. But of couse anyway you need to buy domain and start another site to get more exposure, and link to it from free site to get a better look for cusomers. For instance a site about an unusual pet, or better diseases of your unusual pet, with a few latin names and medical terms thrown in for good measure. If you want to sell stuff that has a lot of competition, jewelry, watches, no-consultation prescription meds, then a free domain isn't going get you far. For that you would need a registered and properly hosted domain, even then you would need to know SEO techniques to rise above the (knowledgable) competition. So it depends on the content whether free domains do well. Be warned if your ISP registers a domain name for free it will almost certainly be registered in their name, not yours. Then you have fallen into a trap. They can rip you off, impose a high penalty if you want to leave them, or if it's successful sell your domain name (with some petty excuse that you failed to renew in time, or broke one of their obscure terms and conditions) |

There is nothing a free hosted subdomain can do that a stand-alone domain cannot, so far as the SEs are concerned, it's just another domain. And for all other purposes, you'd be worse off playing with free sites for business purposes. I think what you mean is "when using spam methods, throway sites avoid risking the main site" - which is, of course, true. But once you've hacked around for a few months and got spam.freedomain.com ooff the ground, what good will it do? most spam sites have such a short shelf life, it's still a waste of time and effort. "If the average spammer used their brains honestly, instead of cheating, they'd probably get rich much quicker - and sleep easier" Cheers, -- Andrew Editor http://www.seo2seo.com/ |

Teoretically - yes, but in practice SE concern new subdomain (on existant good domain) and new domain differently. It's all about trust. You can get trust with a new domain from the ground. > And for all other purposes, you'd be worse off playing with free sites for > business purposes. it's depend on bussiness ;-) > I think what you mean is "when using spam methods, throway sites avoid > risking the main site" - which is, of course, true. You'll earn enough money and can have new domain in SERPs to this moment. P.S. and I don't talked about spam methods here. It's all just about speed when using white hat methods. p.s. sorry for bad english. http://www.seriousrevenue.com/ BoG |

Truth is and has been stated by more than me Bill's ramblings do not make sense. You might understand the English but not understand what is said. Also plain and simple if you don't understand or someone makes an error ask what they meant and they will let you in a different way of what they meant. If you don't understand my theories at times that is fine. Maybe I don't want people to understand them totally, because if they can't understand them the way I stated then they don't need to know the rest. If you don't understand what I am saying now then sod it, I really don't give a squat!
