Maintaining vector document

How do I maintain a vector doument when I paste
it to photoshop CS from Adobe Reader 8 pdf where
I copied it?

You cannot maintain vectors in any manner with a paste. The paste will only work with rasters. Try open or place from the file menu. PDF is one of the supported options.

Try dragging instead of copy/pasting from clipboard.
