I know this has been asked for a long time but I haven't seen any solutions yet. What I want to do is run saving actions that will preserve the folder tree of the original files. Therefore if I want to run an action that creates thumbnails of my master files which happen to be saved in the following hierarchy:
Europe >France >Paris >Dijon >Spain >Madrid >Toldedo Then PS will create the same folder structure in the output directory and the thumbnails will be nested just like the originals. |

I doubt it can be done with an Action. Might be scriptable. Ask on the Photoshop Scripting forum.

Create an action that thumbs file. No open, no save. Just the thumb process. Then copy the complete folder structure to a new folder called "thumbed". Now batch your action on the "thumbed" folder. Select only "include subfolders". For destination, select save and close. Now you'll have a duplicate folder structure with thumbs. My guess is you can find a shareware renamer and synchronizer to merge the structures should you wish.
This is why folder structures suck. Dijon, Spain. Never heard of it. J |

I'm sure there's a Dijon, Texas. Somewhere in the east.

I saw some guy named Dijon in the police log the other night, busted for selling crack, fleeing & eluding, and possession of a stolen handgun.
I didn't think that sort of thing happened in France! |

I saw in a police log in London a man who had been arrested for car burglary over five hundred times. No jail time. Talk about anti-social behavior!

I would do it the way J Maloney is suggesting. It;s not perfect, but it will get you there.
