HI,
I often take screenshots from my screen. I do this by hitting the 'PrtScrn' button on my keyboard. Then I go to PHotoshop, make a new image and paste, but it doesn't paste the recently copied screen that is in the clipboard...?! Does anyone have experience with this and know how to fix it? Thanks, Stan |

Stan,
but it doesn't paste the recently copied screen that is in the clipboard What does it do instead? This always works for me. When, after making the screenshot, you select "New" in PS, does the new canvas have the same pixel dimensions as your screen? Rob |

Like Rob, this generally works for me. I remember once it didn't and closing Photoshop and reopening did the trick. Probably a memory problem with PS sucking up the RAM used by the clipboard.

This is a problem that people have been complaining about for a few versions now. Seems to be intermittent. Usually it works as it should for me.

I got so fed up with it I bought SnagIt.
<http://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.asp> Now I'm glad I did for many other reasons. |

I agree. I prefer SnagIt for screenshots than Photoshop. -- Regards John Waller |

it's not a problem with the clipbboard, it's a problem with photoshop. other apps still have live access to the clipboard after photoshop stops taking new clipboard input. so snagit or PrtScn, doesn't make a difference. restart photoshop is still the "fix" (workaround).
(for the record i have snagit too, i just rarely use it.) |

If you have Vista the Snipping Tool works great, and you can even do freeform cutouts.

Rob (post #1) on a good day, yes, but sometimes, often to be honest, it doesn't put the proper dimensions in OR paste the proper image.
Ok, yeah, because the clipboard date is still there for other programs, so I think it's a PS bug. I knew about closing and reopening, but what a PITA. At least I'm not the only one. Thanks all. |
