AFAICT, almost all, if not all, USB-based GPS devices use the industry
standard NMEA spec. This means your GPS will actually appear as a serial
port. Treat it like a read-only serial modem and you'll be off to a good
start. 4800 bps, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit.
