MS-DOS started with 8.3, as did CP/M. TOPS-10 had 6.3 filenames. If
you went to college in the 1970s or 80s, or used CompuServe during that
time, you might have used TOPS-10 or -20. The TRS-80 Model 100 used
6.2 filenames.
