In the end it appeared to be a config file in the conf.d/ dir in the
/etc/apache2 dir.. Something in there was very wrong. It was the
phpbb.conf... Didn't need it anymore so simply removed it. Everything
is working now again.

Thanx for the hints, they really ed when tracking this!
