Only audio cd? Usual cd/dvd with data is mountable?
If yes, try to setup digital audio extraction, because the optical
readers in laptops are often not connected via a normal analog cable to
the soundcard.
In XMMS you open Preferences, Input-Plugins, CD-Audio-Play, click on
configre and klick digital audio extraction in the play-modus. This
works here on my Z61m. (I'm sorry if not all points are called as I
told, I'm using XMMS in german and just have translated the points for
you.
