Have your email provider set up greylisting.
Have your email provider set up SpamAssassin or equivalent.
Encourge your ISP to use a couple of blacklist sources (e.g., spamhaus).
Filter like mad (Thunderbird, Mail.app, etc. can be trained to to recognize
"junk email").
Learn how to read email headers; when something gets through all of the
filters, forward it to the administrators of the source machine with a
complaint. It's amusing to get back "thank you, we've killed the account
and kept the deposit" notices.
