There are two different disable recursion settings. One is under the
Advanced tab. That will kill all outside resolution other than zones it has
on the machine. ISPs do this when they are hosting zones for their clients.
The other setting is under the Forwarders tab. If you set a forwarder, and
check the box on the bottom that says disable recursion, then it will
resolve outside data only thru the use of the forwarders and will never use
the Root hints. I think this is what you want.
