I just uninstalled service pack 2 and it turns out that was what was
causing the problem.
It must be still kind of buggy.
In addition to the previous problem i stated, i used to have the
problem of my email clients freezing up when they tried to log in using
passwords of a certain length.
It's a pretty crazy bug to have, but apparently that was it.
