What version and service pack level of SQL Server.
If you are on SQL Server 2000 SP 3 - Did you change the
service account using the services applet instead of
Enterprise Manager? You can get a similar error if the
service accounts are changed through the services rather
than through Enterprise Manager as the permissions aren't
set up correctly when done outside of Enterprise Manager.
If you are on SQL Server 2000 SP 4 - what is the regional
setting on the server for SQL Server service account?
