You don't need multiple binary installations to run multiple instances.

Create copies of
- content
- configuration
- logs

.... and change the configuration to refer to correct directories
(ServerRoot, DocumentRoot). Depending on modules, you may also need to
provide the ServerRoot directory as a startup parameter to the httpd
process (see Apache documentation for details).
