Hi Meinolf,
My pleasure for the explanation. I tried using ICS many years ago too and I
found it was a royal PITA (pain in the butt) because of it's nuances. I've
stayed away from it ever since, especially that NAT services are available
under RRAS.
Disabling ICS-DHCP and using an internal DHCP/DNS is a good idea if using
ICS and the way to go. The only scenario I see a problem with is using ICS
on a DC because it would invoke those eventIDs because of DNS services
conflicts. Also with ICS, unless SP2 or a recent update changed it which I
am not aware of, I do not believe you can change the default 192.168.1.1/24
IP and subnet assignment.for the internal NIC. I would actually use NAT can
be controlled better.
